Typophorus
Leaf Beetles
Typophorus is a genus of leaf beetles in the subfamily Eumolpinae. There are at least 52 described species in Typophorus. Similar genera include Paria and Tijucana. Typophorus itself is probably polyphyletic. Two subspecies of Typophorus nigritus, T. nigritus nitidulus and T. nigritus viridicyaneus, are known as pests of sweet potatoes.

Morphological Features
Tiny species, body length 2.1–2.6 mm. General coloration brownish, contrasting with the bright tones typical of many Typophorus species. Pronotum impunctate. Elytra with faint, sparse punctation. Legs with apex of tibiae and tarsi paler than the remainder of legs. Head and thorax with tenuous, nearly imperceptible punctation. Transition between frons and clypeus wide, subparallel, uninterrupted, and at most slightly depressed, lacking the characteristic transverse furrow dividing the frontoclypeus found in other Typophorus.
