Elasmucha

Body length 6–9 mm, oval, moderately convex. Head relatively small, with distinct juga; eyes prominent; antennae 5-segmented, segments III–IV sometimes with pale annulations. Pronotum trapezoidal, lateral margins slightly reflexed, anterior angles not produced; scutellum large, reaching beyond middle of abdomen, apex narrowly rounded. Hemelytra with corium and clavus distinctly punctate; membrane with several longitudinal veins. Legs slender, femora unarmed; tarsi 2-segmented. Ventral surface with dense punctation; abdominal venter with a median longitudinal carina. Coloration variable: dorsum usually brownish or greenish, often with darker punctation; scutellum sometimes with a pale apical spot; connexivum with alternating dark and light bands. Male genital capsule with a distinctive shape, often used for species identification.
