Philephedra

Adult female body in life about 2.8–5.4 mm long, 2.2–3.8 mm wide, oval to elongate, convex; greyish with mid-dorsal area dark brown or grey, normally with scattered short and slender black striations, also with yellowish to orange patches on marginal areas, often triangular, usually present at level of stigmatic areas and around anal cleft and anal plates, with six additional patches on abdomen and a pair on head region. Eyes well developed, circular, domed, each 17.0–20.0 µm in diameter, located on dorsal margin. Antennae not described. Labium 1 segmented, 100–140 μm long, 95–130 μm wide, with 4 pairs of labial setae. Marginal setae each spinose and conical, straight, 15.0–60.0 μm long. Stigmatic areas each containing 3 stigmatic spines, similar to marginal setae but slightly larger or with broader apices. Anal plates together subquadrate, located at about 1/5 of body length from posterior margin; each plate 155–175 μm long, 70.0–105.0 μm wide, with about 4 spinose setae on dorsal surface. Legs with tibio-tarsal sclerosis; tarsal digitules both knobbed, subequal in length, each 82.5–120.0 μm long. Dorsal microducts each with opening oval, bilocular, small, about 1.8–2.0 μm wide. Enlarged inverted dorsal tubercles each elongated and with reticulate appearance, present marginally to submarginally, totaling 32–45 around body.
