Acusana

Small- to medium-sized leafhoppers, 6.5–9.0 mm in length, dorsoventrally flattened. Head produced in dorsal view, median length of crown approximately as long as or longer than half interocular width; in frontal view, frons longer than wide, flat, not excavated below anterior margin of crown; lateral margins of frons distant from eye by maximum width of clypeus; maxillary plates produced ventrally as far as clypeus apex. Pronotum with lateral margins light-yellow. Forewing appendix very developed, wider than first apical cell maximum width, bordering first and second apical cells. Legs: first tarsomere with outer row of setae absent and inner row formed by 4–5 very short setae, pecten with 4 platellae flanked by tapered lateral setae; second tarsomere pecten with 2 platellae flanked by 2 tapered lateral setae on inner and 1 on external corner. Male genitalia: pygofer apex with spine-like or triangular process in some species; subgenital plate short, ligulate; style blade tapered apically, with long setae near dorsal margin; aedeagus somewhat simple, without atrial or apodemal processes, shaft with pair of apical processes.
