Synergus is a genus of gall wasp in the tribe Synergini. It is found worldwide. Species in Synergus are generally inquilines, which means they use the galls of other species of gall wasps. Synergus uses the galls of Cynipini on oak trees.

Morphological Features

Female antenna 14-segmented, male antenna with 15 or rarely 16 segments. Facial striae irradiating from the clypeus reaching the toruli and the compound eyes. Radial cell of the forewing usually closed, sometimes obsoletely closed, rarely open. Head and mesosoma weakly to strongly sculpted. Mesopleuron either completely sculpted or with a smooth and shiny speculum; in some species mesopleura covered with distinguishable striae, thinner and less impressed in the speculum. Pronotum with a strong pronotal carina, the pronotum showing an extreme angled shape from dorsal view. Frons and vertex smooth or weakly sculpted.
