Morphological Features
Adult. Head with yellow tuft; forewings predominantly brown, variously irrorated with dirty white patches; a broad transverse dark brown band extending from costal 3/7 obliquely to before tornus, narrowed and curved at fold. Thorax and tegulae ocherous white to ocherous yellow, tegulae dark brown on anterior margin. Male genitalia: uncus fused medially, caudal margin slightly produced into two small setose lobes; gnathos flattened, robust, usually V-shaped, arms L-shaped with pointed elbows and apices; valvae with elongate digitiform setose process arising from inner surface near costa; juxta fused with inner surface of valvae; vinculum with posterior margin convex at middle, anterior margin arched; saccus rod-shaped, about 1.25× length of valvae, obtusely pointed at apex; phallus about 2.7× length of valvae, curved slightly, articulated at about 1/6, with one sclerotized spiny subapical process. Female: ductus bursae about 3.0× length of apophyses anteriores, without spiculose ring; abdomen sternum VIII sclerotized anteriorly, with rod-shaped median process protruding backwards to 1/2, apex with two long hairs.

PRJNA312833 SRX1603924 SRP070913 insect Nemapogon cloacella transcriptome Nucleic acids were extracted using Promega SV total RNA isolation mini-kits either with or without DNase digestion. Following DNase digestion, the RNA-only preps were subjected to poly-A selection and indexed library construction. The remaining extracts of total nucleic acids were used to produce cDNAs with low-input Clontech kits for either poly-dT priming (SMARTer Ultra Low input RNA kit Đv3, #634849) or universal priming (#634940). Following shearing to 200-bp size with a Covaris instrument, cDNA fragments were used for indexed library construction (Clontech kit #634947 for low input). Libraries were left unnormalized so as to favor highly expressed genes likely to be present in most species and all life stages.
