Hemicrepidius niger

Body uniformly dark brown to black, elytra not contrasting with pronotum, sometimes parts of ventral side paler, particularly edges of segments, hind angles sometimes subtly paler. Frons weakly concave anteromedially, some with slight triangular impression medially in dorsal view. Antenna serrate, antennomere 2 subcylindrical, antennomere 3 subtriangular and about 2× length of 2, subequal in length to 4, antennomeres 4–11 about 2× longer than wide, becoming narrower apically, each with subtle medial line bearing less setae than edges, antennomere 11 with tip constricted as pseudosegment, antenna reaching pronotal posterior edge to extending past it by up to 3 antennomeres. Pronotum as wide as long to 1.3× wider than long, males generally narrower than females, widest at hind angles or just anterior of midlength; punctures similar in size to punctures on head, appearing simple to subumbilicate, separated by one to two puncture diameters, to nearly contiguous on disc, punctures closer and larger laterally, nearly contiguous and clearly subumbilicate. Scutellar shield elongate, about twice as long as wide, narrowly rounded posteriorly, sides sinuate, dorsal surface weakly convex, anterior margin nearly straight, setae radiating from midline, similar in length and color to setae on pronotum and elytra. Elytral interstriae flat to slightly convex, evenly and densely punctured.
