Leafhopper
Idiocerus is a large genus of homopteran bugs belonging to the family Cicadellidae (the leafhoppers). The group is characterized by a very short and broadly rounded vertex (head); many species are very similar and difficult to identify. Most are found on specific host plants, particularly poplars and willows. For instance the common European species I. vitreus is found exclusively on certain poplars.

Morphological Features
Arboreal eurymeline leafhoppers. Upper part of face dorsad of ocelli and crown rugose. Female sternite VII about 2× as wide as long medially, posterior margin more or less convex with median shallow concavity. Male tergal apodemes at base of abdomen well-developed, exceeding third tergum and as long as broad; aedeagus with dorsal apodeme stout, dark pigmented. Valvula I with oblique strigae, sculptured area occupying almost distal half length. Valvula II with toothed area occupying distal 0.3–0.33 length, teeth prominent and distinctly separated from each other.

PRJNA295723 SRX1277796 SRP064070 insect Transcriptome of Idiocerus rotundens "Construction of libraries and sequencing on the Illumina HiSeq2500 were performed at the W. M. Keck Center for Comparative and Functional Genomics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Messenger RNA was selected from one microgram of high quality total RNA. RNAseq libraries were constructed using the TruSeq Stranded RNA Sample Preparation Kit (Illumina, San Diego, CA). Libraries were sequenced on an Illumina HiSeq2500 with TruSeq SBS sequencing kits version 4. The libraries were sequenced from both ends of the molecules to a total read length of 100nt from each end.
