Tischeria

Larvae: body pale yellowish green, with pale light-brown head; pronotal and anal plates slightly darker than body. Head flattened with about 5–6 stemmata arranged linearly, two posterior ones with a relatively larger distance to the remaining ones. Antenna three-segmented; segment 1 sub-cylindrical, slightly less than twice as long as wide; segment 2 slightly longer than wide, slightly less than half length of segment 1; segment 3 distally with a long bristle. Mandible with oral margin at proximal half with some setiform processes bent backwards. Thoracic segments: segment 1 always shortest, its width slightly less than or occasionally equal to that of segments 2 and 3; segments 2 and 3 mostly with same width and length. Ventral surface of first thoracic segment with slightly sclerotized plate. Abdomen: tergite 8 with five pairs of long marginal hairs and some serration towards middle part; plates of 1st tergite elongate and obliquely arranged; plates of 1st sternite sometimes irregularly shaped. Four larval instars; head capsule width and body length ranges provided in Table 1. Adults: forewing usually bright ochreous yellow speckled with darker scales in apical half, occasionally also with a small black tornal spot. Antenna half length of forewing, whitish cream or greyish cream on upper side and underside, without long sensillae. Abdomen greyish brown on upper side, yellowish ochre on underside; anal tufts moderately short, composed of slender, greyish ochre or cream lamellar scales. Forewing length in first generation: male 3.5–4.6 mm, female 3.6–4.9 mm. Male pupa length 3.70–4.40 mm.
