Morphological Features
Genus-level diagnosis: Charidotella species have a subcircular to subtriangular body outline, with the base of the elytra distinctly wider than the pronotum and humeral angles moderately projecting anterad. The elytra are regularly convex, with the explanate margin sometimes bearing humeral and posterolateral spots. The pronotum has subangulate sides in some subgenera. Eyes vary in size: in the subgenus Xenocassis the eyes are small, covering only 2/3 of the lateral sides of the head, leaving the gena well visible (covering approximately the basal third of the lateral side), whereas other subgenera have large eyes with a very narrow gena. The dorsum may have a ring pattern. The metaclaws are simple in some subgenera. The elytra lack a pattern on the underside in some groups. Most species are yellow, with or without a pattern on the ventral side of the elytral disc.
