Head dark brown, smooth with thin pale setae, without scoli, spines or chalazae. Antenna black, 11–13 mm, extending to mid-costa, with 41–42 antennomeres, 9–11 forming a well-defined club. Forewing narrow and elongated, length 25–33 mm; hindwing rounded, about two-thirds length of forewing, length 18–23 mm. Dorsal wing surfaces with dark brown stripes on an orangish red background (orangish red mimicry complex). Forewing dorsal background dark orange with dark brown veins and stripes, including a broad dark brown margin broad at apex and narrowing toward tornus; a dark cubital spot adjacent to discal cell near wing base present in many individuals. Hindwing dorsal background dark orange with broad dark brown margin. Ventral forewing pattern similar to dorsal but lacking broad dark brown margin; ventral hindwing background cream with a well-marked dark brown v-shaped band and an adjacent broad v-shaped orange band. Body dark brown, abdomen ventrally covered by cream scales. Foreleg tarsus with six segments, third segment bearing one short seta. Male valvae elongate and curved, length about four times width of median portion; aedeagus about half length of genital capsule, ending in a sharp point, in lateral view straight or slightly curved downwards. Female wing color pattern similar to males but paler.
