Morphological Features

Genus diagnosis (based on adult males and females). Head width plus eyes 0.7–0.9 times largest width of prothorax; head mostly blackish, center of vertex and gula dark reddish-brown. Mandible sub-triangular, length 0.55 times head length. Dorsal surface of head very finely, sparsely punctate; laterally with fine punctures near clypeus-labrum and antennal tubercles; area between eyes and antennal carina coarsely, confluently punctate. Ocular carina wide, not distinctly separated from antennal tubercles. Antennomere III with very short, sparse setae near apex; antennal formula based on antennomere III: scape = 1.44. Pronotum with lateral margins upturned, mainly at apical two-thirds; posterior margin very distinct, abruptly projected from head. Elytra with large punctures, clearly larger than those of head and pronotum, concentrated and well-defined except around scutellum where punctures are shallower and more widely separated. Metepisterna and lateral sides of metasternum with short but distinct setae. Abdominal sternites I–IV glabrous with moderately abundant, large punctures; sternite V with punctures at basal third, granules at apical two-thirds, and hairs laterally and apically. Paronychium with four long setae, two at each side of apex.
