Rhamphothrips

Head small; mouth cone exceptionally long. Pronotum without elongate posteroangular setae; posterior margin with about 6 pairs of setae, one pair of posteroangular setae slightly prominent. Mesonotal anterior campaniform sensilla present, median setae about one third of sclerite length from posterior margin, lateral pair stout. Metanotal median setae not at anterior margin, campaniform sensilla present. Fore tibia with two moderately stout apical setae but no tooth. Fore wing first vein with about 7 setae basally, 3 widely spaced setae on distal half. Antennal segments III–VIII length 35, 32, 32, 40, 7, 10 (in one species). Female sternite VII with median two pairs of setae (S1 and S2) close together medially and far distant from S3; sternite VIII with two pairs of median setae close together and distant from the third pair. Tergal paired campaniform sensilla on II–VII posterior to small, widely spaced median setae. Body color variable; some species uniformly yellow, others with posterior abdominal segments dark brown.
