Capulinia

Adult female: body up to 2.6 mm in length and width, derm membranous, without striations or reticulate pattern. Dorsal setae finely spinose, mostly 3–5 µm long, those anterior to anus up to 12 µm long. Marginal setae spinose, 15–17 µm long. Ventral setae very sparse, short, 3–5 µm long, up to 10 µm near anus. Antennae reduced to 1- or 2-segmented structures, each 23–25 µm long, with about 4 fleshy setae on apical segment. Legs very reduced: prothoracic legs represented by membranous basal segment and sclerotised claw-like structure; metathoracic legs modified into membranous lobes located near posterior apex of abdomen, segmentation obscure, setae absent. Hind legs smaller than length of labium. Microtubular ducts of 3 or 4 types: a long thin duct around anus, a larger broader duct forming a complete band around abdomen on segment IV. Anal lobes barely developed or absent, unsclerotised. Anus slightly oval, about 5 µm wide, without anal ring or setae. Adult male: body not attenuated, abdomen more or less parallel sided with elongate penial sheath; capitate setae present on apical antennal segment only; body setae mainly hair-like, fleshy setae indistinguishable.
