Morphological Features

Females of Stictococcidae go through three developmental stages: two larval instars and an adult. The first and second instars are purple-red, while the adult is brown. The family includes the hypogeal species Stictococcus vayssierei. Morphological features such as the number of opercular plates and setae are discriminating.
