Chaetanaphothrips orchidii

Body length not given. Head 0.6–0.8 times as long as width across cheeks; head length (including anterior prolongation) 95–108, width across compound eye 138–155, width across cheeks 128–140. Antennae 8-segmented, length 234–261; segments III–VI with forked sense cones reaching basal third of next segments; segments I–III (or IV) yellow, IV often shaded at apex, V yellow with distal third shaded, VI yellow with distal half shaded, VII–VIII shaded. Ocellar setae pair I absent, pair III situated at or slightly anterior to level of anterior margin of hind ocelli. Postocular setae 5 pairs, S1–S3 along inner margin of compound eyes. Pronotum weakly sculptured with transverse striae near posterior margin, smooth within ocellar triangle; posteromarginal setae 5 pairs, S3 and S5 developed, S3 about 0.4 times as long as pronotal median length, 1.7–2.3 times as long as S5. Mesonotum smooth anteromedially, with anteromedian CPS. Abdominal tergites with transverse anastomosing striae, smooth posteromedially in IV–VII; tergite VIII with stippled areas reaching antecostal line; tergite IX 1.3–1.5 times as long as tergite X, with large spine-like S1 close to each other, arising from a single short tubercle; tergite X almost as long as basal width. Ovipositor 2.4–2.6 times as long as pronotal median length. Male with pore plates on abdominal sternites IV–VII.
