Morphological Features

Body length about 1.2–1.5 mm. General body shape slender, slightly flattened. Color variable, often brown or bicolored. Head with ocellar setae pair I present, pair III relatively well-developed. Mouth-cone often elongate, not reaching mesosternum; maxillary palpi 3-segmented. Antennae 8-segmented; segment I without median dorsal apical setae; segments III and IV each with forked sensorium; segments III–VI with rows of microtrichia on both dorsal and ventral surfaces; segment VI often with weak transverse line. Pronotum with a single pair of major posteroangular setae. Mesonotum with median pair of setae far from posterior margin. Metanotal median setae small, placed well back from anterior margin. Fore wing first vein with long gap in setal row, often irregularly spaced; second vein with many irregularly spaced setae. Legs with fore tibia apical seta thin, not spine-like. Tergites II–VII with S3 setae (posteroangular setae) inserted at or near posterior angle. Tergite VIII without posteromarginal comb. Sternites III–VII with 3 pairs of posteromarginal setae; sternite II with 2 pairs; sternite VII with S1 setae in front of posterior margin. Pleurotergites with setae arising from posterior margin only.
