Morphological Features

Vertex trapezoidal, with two transverse carinae (apical and subapical) dividing it into apical and basal compartments; apical transverse carina distinct in some species, elongated medially and touching median carina of frons (Y-shape in frontal view). Frons with lateral carinae usually elevated. Antenna with short scape and semi-globular pedicel slightly surpassing margins of frons in frontal view. Pronotum tricarinate, with median carina absent or inconspicuous. Mesonotum with distance between lateral carinae slightly larger distally than near pronotum. Hind tibia usually with lateral spines (present in most species, absent in some), with 6 apical teeth; apical teeth grouped as 1–2 larger lateral teeth and intermediate teeth gradually smaller medially or of uniform size, usually with 1–3 platellae or 3 very thin setae. Tegmina about 1/3 of body length, with distal margins usually touching each other, apical cells and veins usually elongated and parallel, usually with 12–13 distal veins, RP quadrifid. Hind wing with RP bifid, MP trifid, with petiolate anastomosis in MP3+4+CuA1 distally forked (Y-type) or with complete anastomosis (I-type).
