Tusothrips

Head small, about 0.7 times as long as width across cheeks; vertex sculptured with transverse striae, smooth within ocellar triangle; ocellar setae pair I absent. Mouth cone very long, reaching mesosternum, 1.6–1.7 times as long as basal width. Antennae 8-segmented, without dorso-apical setae on segment I; segment VI with elongate-based inner sense cone; segments III–VIII length/width ratios variable. Pronotum transverse, weakly sculptured with a few transverse striae near anterior margin, almost smooth medially, with about 27–31 discal setae; two pairs of prominent posteroangular setae (PAS1 and PAS2). Mesonotum sculptured with wide spaced transverse anastomosing striae, with anteromedian CPS. Metascutum with median pair of setae stout, about 0.4 times as long as metascutal median length. Fore wing with pale but distinct brown oblique band or two brown bands; clavus equally dark. Abdominal tergite I distinctly reticulate or with anastomosing striae; tergites II–VII sculptured with wide spaced anastomosing striae throughout, weak medially; tergite VIII with microtrichia arising from sculpture near posterior margin outside of S2; tergite IX with S1 arising from a single long tubercle. Sterna III–VI with craspedum of broad lobes; sternite VII with S1 and S2 close together medially. Ovipositor about 2.1–2.2 times as long as pronotal median length. Body and legs yellow; antennal segments I–II yellow, III brownish yellow or brown with base pale, IV brown with basal third to half yellow, V brown with basal third to half yellowish, VI–VIII brown.
