Semanotus litigiosus

Adult body length larger than related species, color dark brown to black, rarely with antennomeres 4–11 light brown. Elytra ranging from completely dark to having two pairs of pale yellow transversely oval spots or wide bands; elytra with one or multiple rows of dense medium to long, semi-erect to erect, golden setae extending along suture from base to near apex. Antennae long, usually as long or longer than elytra. Fore legs relatively short, femur equal in length to tibia; pro- and mesotibial apices expanded, somewhat globular, with dense brush of long setae often obscuring tibial spurs, especially in females. Male genitalia with tegmen apophyses cylindrical and somewhat flattened, basal ring often broadly joined, emarginate or widely separated.
