Eoophyla

Adult. Forewing span: male 21–34 mm, female 26–46 mm. Head and body flat. Male forewing with androconial hairs present in cell, arising from upper edge of cell; upper edge of cell sometimes diffused with fuscous setae on basal half. Hindwing outer margin with 1–4 eyespots; eyespots may have silvery scales centrally or laterally. Hindwing with antemedial and postmedial fasciae band-like; sometimes a dark fuscous area above submarginal fascia. Forewing mostly covered with brown scales except white areas between postmedial and submarginal fasciae, or with several white areas. Male genitalia: valva densely covered with setae, with 1–3 strong specialized setae or a tuft of slender setae at apex; specialized setae length from about 1/3 to 3/4 length of valva, third seta sometimes with apex expanded or knife-shaped. Uncus without setae. Female genitalia: papillae anales setose; segment 8 with weakly sclerotized plates on dorsum and sternum not forming a ring; corpus bursae with two pairs of signa, shorter pair about 1/10–1/5 length of corpus bursae, longer pair about 1/2–4/5 length of corpus bursae.
