Sciaphobus squalidus

Body length 4.5–5.5 mm. Integument dark brown to black, covered with greyish to brownish scales. Rostrum long, parallel-sided, clearly separated from head, with narrow, sparse, obliquely directed scales; frons large, weakly depressed, finely punctate anteriorly, almost impunctate and shiny posteriorly. Eyes large, strongly convex, distinctly projecting beyond head outline. Antennae with scape reaching eye; funicle 7-segmented; club compact. Pronotum 1.23–1.29× as wide as long, widest at or slightly behind middle, sides distinctly rounded, more tapered anteriorly; disc with long, narrow, transverse, sparse scales not hiding integument, and with dense, long-oval, greyish scales forming inconspicuous lateral stripes. Elytra with short oval appressed scales, sparse, leaving narrow spaces between scales (6–7 scales per interval); intervals 3 and 5 often sparser; scales light brownish to brownish, sometimes with bronze sheen; intervals 6–10 greyish; humeral calli not projecting. Legs with femora clavate; tibiae straight; tarsi with bilobed third segment. Aedeagus with apex tapered into slender elongated point.
