Ornebius is a genus of crickets in the family Mogoplistidae and the tribe Arachnocephalini, erected by F lix douard Gu rin-M neville in 1844. Species may be called "common scaled crickets" and have widespread records of distribution, which are discontinuous (and probably incomplete); they include: Africa, Asia, Australia, islands in the Indian and Pacific Oceans, and South America.

Morphological Features
Body length generally between 6.5 mm and 8 mm in both males and females. Posterior margin of forewing with a continuous dark band or three darkened areas, brown or black, never red. The last dorsal segment of the abdomen is never black between the cerci. Males with pronotum produced backward, covering base of tegmina in some species, and tegmina reduced to stridulatory apparatus; females without tegmen.
