Anaphothrips obscurus

Body and legs brownish yellow, with brown markings on pronotum, laterally on mesonotum and metascutum, and medially on tergites. Head wider than long, dorsal surface sculptured with irregular transverse reticulations behind eyes. Ocellar setae I present; ocellar setae III outside ocellar triangle, anterior to hind ocelli. Antennal segment I yellow, segments II–IV yellowish brown (segment II darker), segments V–IX darker brown. Fore wing first vein with 7–8 basal setae and 2–3 distal setae; second vein with 8–9 setae, with no setae basal to vein fork. Metascutum reticulate, median setae well behind anterior margin. Abdominal tergites with microtrichia laterally; tergite VIII posterior margin with comb of microtrichia; tergite IX faintly shaded at posterior margin with row of small pointed tubercles. Tergal dorsal setae capitate, but not broadly expanded. Spiracles occupying no more than 0.3 of lateral margin of tergite VIII.
