Establece requisitos fitosanitarios de importación para plantas, estacas y ramillas de pistacho (Pistacia spp.), procedentes del Estado de California de Estados Unidos de Norteamérica (Phytosanitary requirements governing the importation of pistachio (Pistacia spp.) plants, cuttings and twigs from the state of California, United States of America)

The notified text establishes phytosanitary requirements governing the importation into Chile of pistachio (Pistacia spp.) plants, cuttings and twigs from the state of California, United States of America. They stipulate, inter alia, that:
1. Consignments must include a phytosanitary certificate issued by USDA/APHIS, declaring that:
- The material comes from an officially certified production programme or from germplasm nurseries or repositories controlled by the official plant health authority of the exporting country;
- The consignment has been inspected and is free from the following arthropods:
· Brevipalpus lewisi (Ac.: Tenuipalpidae);
· Tetranychus pacificus (Ac.: Tetranychidae);
· Choristoneura rosaceana (Lep.: Tortricidae);
· Ferrisia gilli (Hem.: Pseudococcidae);
· Parlatoria oleae (Hem.: Diaspididae);
· Parthenolecanium pruinosum (Hem.: Coccidae);
· Pseudococcus maritimus (Hem.: Pseudococcidae);
- The plant material derives from mother plants that were inspected and tested (specify diagnostic technique) at the optimal time for detecting pests and found to be free from Xylella fastidiosa and Rhodococcus facians;
- The production site was inspected at the optimal time for detecting pests, and the samples extracted from roots and soil underwent official laboratory analysis and were found to be free from Phymatotrichopsis omnivora;
- In addition, consignments of rooted plants or cuttings must indicate that they have been found to be free from Xiphinema americanum sensu lato (excluding Chilean populations) and Xiphinema americanum sensu stricto, based on an official laboratory analysis finding;
2. The material must have undergone disinfestation treatment against insects and mites through immersion or spraying, and the phytosanitary certificate must state, in the section on treatment, the name of the product, the type of application and the dose used.
3. In addition, the plant material must comply with the following phytosanitary requirements, which will be verified during inspection at the point of entry: free of soil; free of flowers, leaves, fruits and other plant remains; plants or rooted cuttings may only enter the country dormant and with bare roots; packed in new packaging that is resistant to handling, sealable, and labelled in accordance with the regulations in force; the packing and packaging materials designed to provide cushioning or maintain humidity must not include plant material or substrates that can carry pests, such as straws of grass, wood shavings or chips, peat, etc.
