Resolución Exenta No. 4205/2021, Modifica Resolución Exenta No. 7.214 de 2014 y Establece medidas de emergencia para prevenir el ingreso de Opogona sacchari en plantas para plantar de especies hospedantes (Exempt Resolution No. 4205/2021 amending Exempt Resolution No. 7.214 of 2014 and establishing emergency measures to prevent the entry of Opogona sacchari in plants for planting that are host species)

In 2019, Resolution No. 7.214 of 2014 was amended by SAG Resolution No. 7.677/2019 in order to suspend shipments from Costa Rica of ornamental plants for planting that were hosts of Opogona sacchari until appropriate risk management for this pest had been assessed. The genus Bromelia spp. was inadvertently omitted from the list of hosts of Opogona sacchari and must be added.
In light of the above, Exempt Resolution No. 7.214 of 2014 establishing emergency measures to prevent the entry of Opogona sacchari in plants for planting that are host species has been amended to include the following provision:
"As a temporary, emergency measure, shipments from Costa Rica of the following host species of Opogona sacchari are to be suspended: Aechmea fasciata, Archontophoenix spp., Bactris spp., Bambusa spp., Begonia spp., Bouganvillea spp., Bromelia spp., Caryota spp., Chamaedorea spp., Chrysalidocarpus spp., Cocos spp., Cordyline spp., Cycas spp., Dieffenbachia spp., Dracaena spp., Echinocactus spp., Echinopsis spp., Euphorbia pulcherrima, Euphorbia trigona, Ferocactus spp., Ficus spp.(Excepto Ficus carica), Gloxinia spp., Guzmania spp., Gymnocalycium spp., Hohenbergia spp., Nidularium spp., Notocactus spp., Philodendron spp., Phoenix roebelenii, Strelitzia spp., Tillandsia spp., Vriesea spp., Wodyetia bifurcata and Yucca spp."
