The measure approves the coordinated and consolidated text of the Resolutions establishing phytosanitary requirements for the importation of kiln-dried sawn timber, of a thickness exceeding 6 mm, and quarantine regulations for the importation of sawn timber and logs, as follows:
1. Definitions of the types of timber covered by the Resolution, including the terms "unused sawn timber" and "used sawn timber", to facilitate certification by the phytosanitary authority of the country of origin and verification of the timber, according to material species and type, at the points of entry;
2. Phytosanitary requirements that must be included in the official phytosanitary certificate, identifying the additional declarations that the certificate must contain according to the type of wood and origin, and indicating the approved treatments and those responsible for carrying out and/or supervising the treatment;
3. Requirements for wood to be used to manufacture packaging in Chile;
4. Timber that is not covered by the Resolution because it is covered by other measures, such as wood packaging material used to support, protect or transport an imported product (including dunnage), which is covered by International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures (ISPM) No. 15. Wooden sleepers and sawn timber for sleepers are not covered, as their requirements are set according to origin and species;
5. Requirements for sealing the various means transport;
6. Inspection carried out by SAG at the point of entry to ensure physical and documentary compliance with the phytosanitary requirements established for the imported shipment and actions in the event of detection of listed pests or non-listed pests that are potentially quarantine pests.
