DLD order on temporary suspension of importation of live prawns and prawn carcasses (including Penaeus vannameiP. monodon and P. stylirostris) from Madagascar to prevent the spread of Infectious Hypodermal and Hematopoietic Necrosis Virus (IHHNV)

According to the announcement of the Government Gazette dated 16 December 2021, the suspension for importation of live prawns and prawn carcasses (including Penaeus vannameiP. monodon and P. stylirostris) from Madagascar has expired on 16 March 2022. However, the results of the investigation and corrective action plan from Madagascar have not been received. Therefore, it is necessary for Thailand to prevent the entry of Infectious Hypodermal and Hematopoietic Necrosis Virus (IHHNV) into the country. By the virtue of Animal Epidemics Act B.E. 2558 (2015), the importation of live prawns and prawn carcasses (including Penaeus vannameiP. monodon and P. stylirostris) from Madagascar is temporarily suspended for a period of 90 days since 17 March 2022 onward in the Thai Royal Gazette.
