Australia released the Review of the risk associated Japanese encephalitis in horses from approved countries – Final report on 9 October 2023. All comments on the draft report for this policy review were considered in the finalisation process.The Australian Biosecurity Import Conditions System (BICON) will be updated to reflect the change as new health certificates are agreed with trading partners. All existing import permits remain valid. If desired, please contact the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry to request a permit variation prior to the BICON changes.
