Certificados Fitosanitarios (Phytosanitary certificates)

With a view to preventing trade disruptions, Panama wishes to inform its trading partners that it has completed the transition from manual management to the Generic ePhyto National System (GeNS) of the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) ePhyto Solution Project to generate and transmit phytosanitary certificates for export and re-export electronically. Therefore, as of 1 January 2024, all phytosanitary certificates for export and re-export from Panama will be issued through the GeNS of the IPPC ePhyto Solution Project. An example of the phytosanitary certificate form generated by the GeNS is included. Panama wishes to inform its trading partners' phytosanitary authorities that the GeNS of the IPPC ePhyto Solution Project has a public application for verifying the authenticity of phytosanitary certificates. Interested parties should go to https://pa.ephytoexchange.org/, "Find an issued certificate", and fill out the requested fields to verify the authenticity of phytosanitary certificates issued by Panama. Panama currently has agreements for the electronic exchange of phytosanitary certificates with the authorities of 34 trading partners, and it invites others to formalize similar agreements.
