The introduction of risk-based import checks on hair and wool produced from animals other than those of porcine species, due to the risk of introducing diseases that can be transmitted via untreated wool and hair

All consignments of untreated hair and wool produced from animals, other than those of porcine species, will be categorised as medium risk under the BTOM.  This change will mean that all consignments will now be subject to routine checks at the border as per the BTOM rules for medium risk goods. This will not introduce any new import documentation requirements, a commercial document or importer declaration will continue to be required as per the import requirements laid down in assimilated Regulation (EU) 142/2011. Consignments will continue to require prenotification on IPAFFS.   To note, the hair of porcine species was already categorised as medium risk under the BTOM and the import requirements for associated products should continue to be applied.
