New GB tMRLs (temporary MRLs) for mepiquat amending the GB MRL Statutory Register

Mepiquat is an approved active substance in Great Britain.  The Health and Safety Executive received an application to reassess the temporary Maximum Residue Levels (tMRLs) for mepiquat residues in cultivated fungi, including oyster mushrooms. For oyster mushrooms the monitoring data supports raising the tMRL from 0.7 mg/kg to 3 mg/kg.   The evaluation concludes that the existing tMRL of 0.09 mg/kg remains appropriate for all other cultivated fungi except oyster mushrooms. The Evaluation Report/ Reasoned Opinion supporting the new tMRLs is available at the following link along with a complete list of the new tMRLs:  The evaluation of supplementary information to support the tMRL for mepiquat in or on cultivated fungiThe residue levels arising in food from the notified uses result in consumer exposures below the toxicological reference values and therefore harmful effects on human health are not expected. As the residue levels exceed the current tMRL in force, a new tMRL is being adopted. This revised tMRL must be reviewed in seven years, with updated monitoring data submitted to confirm it’s continued validity.
