Import requirements for potato tubers for industrial use in relation to the pest Candidatus Liberibacter solanacearum ("Zebra chip" disease)

Administrative Decision CFI-RA-001/2013 of 9 September 2013 temporarily suspended the issuance of import certificates for potatoes for industrial use originating in the United States of America, following the detection of the quarantine pest Candidatus Liberibacter solanacearum ("Zebra chip" disease) in two consignments. Following verification in the country of origin of compliance with the SFE (State Phytosanitary Service)-PPQ (Plant Protection and Quarantine) Bilateral Protocol and on the recommendation of Technical Report No. 117-2015-ARP-SFE, import certificates for potatoes for industrial use originating in the United States of America are once again being issued. Consignments of potatoes for industrial use are subject to post-entry monitoring, in accordance with Procedure CFI-PO-08, to mitigate the risk of the introduction of quarantine pests into Costa Rica.
