Notice of Modification - Lists of Permitted Food Additives

The permitted conditions of use for mineral oil, paraffin wax, and petrolatum, which are found in the Lists of Permitted Food Additives with Other Generally Accepted Uses, make reference to section B.01.047, which Health Canada's Food Directorate had recently revoked. Therefore, consequential modifications, specifically to column 4 of the List of Permitted Food Additives with Other Generally Accepted Uses (http://hc-sc.gc.ca/fn-an/securit/addit/list/8-other-autre-eng.php) are required to remove references to section B.01.047.
Health Canada has modified the List of Permitted Food Additives with Other Generally Accepted Uses (http://hc-sc.gc.ca/fn-an/securit/addit/list/8-other-autre-eng.php), effective 25 May 2016.
The purpose of this communication is to publically announce the Department's decision in this regard and to provide the appropriate contact information for any inquiries or for those wishing to submit any new scientific information relevant to the safety of these food additives.
