Establece requisitos fitosanitarios de importación para la importación a Chile de turiones de espárragos (Asparagus officinalis) para consumo en estado fresco, procedentes de Perú, y modifica Resolución N° 4.657, de 2006, de este Servicio (Establishment of phytosanitary requirements governing the importation into Chile of fresh asparagus (Asparagus officinalis) spears for consumption from Peru, and amendment of Resolution No. 4.657 of 2006 of the Agriculture and Livestock Service)

1.The following phytosanitary requirements have been established for the importation of fresh asparagus (Asparagus officinalis) spears for consumption from Peru, which must be verified by an inspector from the National Plant Protection Organization (NPPO) of Peru (the National Agrarian Health Service - SENASA), prior to the issuance of a phytosanitary certificate:1.1 To be imported into the country, shipments must be covered by an official phytosanitary certificate (original copy) issued by SENASA, which contains an additional declaration stating the following: The shipment has been inspected and been found free from Prodiplosis longifila and Elasmopalpus lignosellus.1.2 Shipments of asparagus spears must come from registered establishments, which have a unique producer code, have been officially verified by SENASA, and implement integrated pest management for the control of P. longifila and E. lignosellus, which has been verified by SENASA.1.3 The packaging establishments responsible for processing fresh asparagus spears to be imported into Chile must be registered and authorized by SENASA and must have a unique packaging code.1.4 Furthermore, the phytosanitary certificate must state the name and code of the place of production, name and code of the packaging establishment, seal number, department/province/district of origin and season.2.Shipments must be free of soil.3.Shipments must be free of plant remains.4.Modes of transportation will be used exclusively to transport shipments with a similar phytosanitary import status (inspected and approved), which must be sealed by the competent phytosanitary authority and duly protected.5.Shipments transported by land must be covered or packed in containers, in order to ensure that the phytosanitary status of the shipment is maintained and to prevent contamination.6.Shipments transported by sea and other waterways must be stored in containers or in the hold, with other shipments that have a similar phytosanitary status.7.Shipments transported by air must be stored in containers or pallets that are duly packaged and protected.8.Shipments must be contained in new packaging and packing materials. Repackaging is not permitted. Shipments must bear labels indicating the name and code of the place of production, name and code of the packaging establishment, department/province/district of origin and season.9.The packaging materials used must allow for potential quarantine fumigation treatments to be carried out at points of entry. Shipments without such packaging materials will be rejected.10.The wood used for packaging, pallets and packing materials must be bark-free, and must also comply with the quarantine regulations for the importation of wood packaging.11.Shipments will be inspected upon arrival in the country by inspectors from SENASA at the point of entry, who will verify compliance with the phytosanitary requirements and conditions, and with the accompanying documentation, will determine whether the shipments can be imported.12.Article 1 of Resolution No. 4.657 of 2006 has been amended by the removal of the species Asparagus officinalis (asparagus spears).
