1. The notified Resolution establishes the mandatory phytosanitary requirements governing the importation into Costa Rica of fresh avocados from the Dominican Republic:a.Shipments require an official phytosanitary certificate issued by the country of origin, which indicates, in the section for additional declarations, that they are free from Ceroplastes rusci, Aonidiella orientalis, Aulacaspis tubercularis and Maconelicoccus hirsutus.b.General requirements for products to be consumed fresh: Products must be properly packaged and labelled, and be free from plant residues, soil, snails and slugs. They will be subject to phytosanitary control at the point of entry.2. Shipments will be inspected upon arrival in the country by officials from the State Phytosanitary Service at the point of entry. Compliance with the phytosanitary requirements will be verified.3. Failure to comply with the phytosanitary requirements established in this Resolution will be punishable in accordance with Law No. 7664, the Plant Protection Law and its implementing Regulations.
