Resolution No. 0004 - Temporary prohibition of the entry into Ecuador of live birds, genetic poultry material and products of avian origin from the Republic of Chile

The original notification referred to the outbreak confirmed by the Republic of Chile in January 2017 as an outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza virus. However, the Republic of Chile hereby notifies that the outbreak actually involved H7 low pathogenic avian influenza. Furthermore, the description of the place where the virus was detected was incorrect.In light of the above, sections 6 and 7 of the original notification have been replaced by the following text:6.Description of content: The notified text prohibits the entry into Ecuador of live adult birds, genetic poultry material (chicks and fertile eggs), and products and by-products of avian origin from the Republic of Chile, which pose a risk of transmitting the avian influenza virus.8.Nature of the urgent problem(s) and reasons for urgent action: In January 2017, the Republic of Chile confirmed an outbreak of H7 low pathogenic avian influenza on a turkey farm in the rural sector of the Quilpué commune, in the Valparaíso region.
