The Saudi Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture lifts the temporary ban on the importation of live birds, hatching eggs and one-day old chicks originating from Greece

The Saudi Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture issued the Decision No. 178328 dated 9 March 2017 (10/06/1438 AH) entitled "Temporary Ban of Importation of Live Bird, Hatching Egg and One-day Old Chick" originating from Greece, due to the outbreak of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) in Greece. The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture has subsequently issued the Decision No. 1439/1291/123 dated 11 December 2017 (23/03/1439 AH), lifting the temporary ban on the importation of live birds, hatching eggs and one-day old chicks originating from Greece.
Based on OIE reports in the last three months, HPAI has not been registered in Greece. In compliance with the OIE Terrestrial Animal Health Code, Chapter 10.4, the risk of importing live birds, hatching eggs and one-day old chicks from Greece is negligible.
