The Saudi Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture lifts the temporary ban on the importation of live birds, hatching eggs and one-day old chicks originating from West-Vlaanderen, Belgium

The Saudi Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture issued the Decision No. 224 /1291/1438 dated 6 August 2017 (14/11/1438 AH) entitled "Temporary Ban of Importation of Live Bird, Hatching Egg and One-day Old Chick" originating from South Africa, Togo and West-Vlaanderen, Belgium, due to the outbreak of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) in South Africa, Togo and West-Vlaanderen, Belgium. The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture has subsequently issued the Decision No. 1439/1291/280 dated 20 March 2018 (03/07/1439 AH), lifting the temporary ban on the importation of live birds, hatching eggs and one-day old chicks originating from West-Vlaanderen, Belgium.
Based on OIE reports in the last three months, HPAI has not been registered in West-Vlaanderen, Belgium. In compliance with the OIE Terrestrial Animal Health Code, Chapter 10.4, the risk of importing live birds, hatching eggs and one-day old chicks from West-Vlaanderen, Belgium is negligible.
