The Saudi Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture lifts the temporary ban on the importation of equine originating from Spain

The Saudi Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture issued the Decision No. 253/1291/1438 dated 30 July 2017 (7/11/1438H) entitled "Temporary ban on the importation of equine" from Spain, due to the outbreak of Equine Infectious Anaemia (EIA) in Spain. The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture has subsequently issued the Decision No. 40/79731/1439 dated 4 June 2018 (20/09/1439 AH), lifting the temporary ban on the importation of equine originating from Spain.
Based on OIE reports in the last three months, EIA has not been registered in Spain. In compliance with the OIE Terrestrial Animal Health Code, Chapter 12.5, the risk of importing equine from Spain is negligible.
