The Saudi Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture lifts the temporary ban on the importation of equine originating from The former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia

The Saudi Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture issued the Decision No. 253/1291/1438 dated 30 July 2017 (7/11/1438H) entitled "Temporary ban on the importation of equine" from Spain and The former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, due to the outbreak of Equine Infectious Anaemia (EIA) in Spain and The former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. On 4 June 2018, the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture issued the Decision No. 40/79731/1439 entitled lifting the temporary ban on the importation of equine originating from Spain. The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture has subsequently issued the Decision No. 84/79731/1439 dated 22 July 2018 (09/11/1439 AH), lifting the temporary ban on the importation of equine originating from Macedonia.
Based on OIE reports in the last three months, EIA has not been registered in Macedonia. In compliance with the OIE Terrestrial Animal Health Code, Chapter 12.5, the risk of importing equine from Macedonia is negligible.
