The Saudi Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture lifts the temporary ban on the importation of hatching eggs and one-day old chicks originating from India

The Saudi Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture issued Decision No. 204/1291/1439 dated 4 February 2018 (18/05/1439 H) entitled "Temporary Ban of Importation of Live Bird, Hatching Egg and One-day Old Chick" originating from India, due to the outbreak of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) in India. The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture has subsequently issued Decision No. 1440/79731/163757 dated 5 November 2018 (27/02/1440 AH), lifting the temporary ban on the importation of hatching eggs and one-day old chicks from Indian farms that have been approved by India government.
Based on OIE reports in the last three months, HPAI has not been registered in India. In compliance with the OIE Terrestrial Animal Health Code, Chapter 10.4, the risk of importing hatching eggs and one-day old chicks from India is negligible.
