Modification to the Lists of Permitted Food Additives to remove duplication and harmonize the names of certain food additives

Health Canada's Food and Nutrition Directorate intends to make corrective modifications to certain Lists of Permitted Food Additives in order to eliminate duplicate entries and to replace food additive synonyms that appear in place of the common name in some entries. These modifications will not change the permitted uses of the affected food additives and will have no impact on the labelling of prepackaged foods.Consequently, Health Canada will modify the Lists of Permitted Food Additiveshttps://www.canada.ca/en/health-canada/services/food-nutrition/food-safety/food-additives/lists-permitted.html) as described in the notice on 20 October 2025. These modifications will come into force on the day they are published in the lists.The purpose of the notice of modification (notified document) is to publicly announce the Department's decision in this regard and to provide the appropriate contact information for those wishing to submit an inquiry or new scientific information relevant to the safety of this food additive.
