The Saudi Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture lifts the temporary ban on the importation of hatching eggs and one-day old chicks originating from India

The Saudi Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture issued Decision No. 317660/79731/1440 dated 25 December 2018 (18/04/1440 H) entitled "Temporary Ban of Importation of Live Bird, Hatching Egg and One-day Old Chick" originating from India, due to the outbreak of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) in India. The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture has subsequently issued Decision No. 1441/1291/301660 dated 25 December 2019 (28/04/1441 AH), lifting the temporary ban on the importation of live bird, hatching eggs and one-day old chicks originating from India.Based on OIE reports in the last three months, HPAI has not been registered in India. In compliance with the OIE Terrestrial Animal Health Code, Chapter 10.4, the risk of importing live bird, hatching eggs and one-day old chicks from India is negligible.
