Resolution SENASA-DG-R003-2025 - Orders the temporary suspension of imports of those goods specified in Chapter 8.8 "Infection with Foot and Mouth Disease Virus" of the WOAH Terrestrial Animal Health Code which are traded openly, originating in Hungary, and which were produced or obtained 28 calendar days prior to the beginning of the notified eventCosta Rica hereby advises that Resolution SENASA-DG-R003-2025 ordering the temporary suspension of imports of those goods specified in Chapter 8.8 "Infection with Foot and Mouth Disease Virus" of the WOAH Terrestrial Animal Health Code which are traded openly, originating in Hungary, and which were produced or obtained 28 calendar days prior to the beginning of the notified event, which was notified to the WTO in document G/SPS/N/CRI/314 of 19 March 2025, ceased to have effect on 17 September 2025. As the opening of trade with Hungary is limited, in terms of imports, to bovine semen exclusively, imports of such goods obtained 28 calendar days prior to the beginning of the notified event were temporarily suspended.Circular SENASA-DG-0140-2025 of 10 March 2025 also ceased to have effect, thereby allowing the resumption of exports to Costa Rica of bovine semen produced since 10 September 2025 and coming from establishments authorized by SENASA, by virtue of the fact that:1. The Animal Quarantine Directorate continued to monitor the emergence of new cases of foot and mouth disease (FMD), in the light of the events reported in the cities of Mosonmagyaróvár and Csorna, in the county of Győr-Moson-Sopron.2. Chapter 8.8 "Infection with Foot and Mouth Disease Virus" of the WOAH Terrestrial Animal Health Code establishes the conditions for restoring the health status concerning FMD.3. The Delegate of Hungary submitted a request to the WOAH for the restoration of its status as a country free from FMD where vaccination is not practised, in accordance with the relevant provisions of the WOAH Terrestrial Animal Health Code (Terrestrial Code). The Scientific Commission for Animal Diseases reviewed the request in keeping with Resolution No. 15 of the 2020 Adapted Procedure and concluded that Hungary meets the requirements of the Terrestrial Code for the restoration of its status as a "country free from FMD where vaccination is not practised" with effect from 10 September 2025.https://members.wto.org/crnattachments/2025/SPS/CRI/25_06463_00_s.pdf
