Certificados Fitosanitarios Electrónicos (Electronic phytosanitary certificate).

The notified document is submitted pursuant to the fact that Panama is one of the 125 countries using the Generic ePhyto National System (GeNS), through the HUB of the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC), to send and receive phytosanitary certificates in accordance with ISPM 12. In conformity with that standard, phytosanitary certification is used to attest that consignments meet phytosanitary import requirements and is undertaken by an NPPO. As of 1 March 2026, Panama will no longer issue paper-based phytosanitary certificates to countries using the ePhyto solution. The same measure will apply in future to countries that deploy the ePhyto solution and that are currently in the testing phase and/or registered.
