The DLD order on temporary suspension of importation of live poultry and poultry carcasses from South Africa to prevent the spread of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (Serotype H5N8).

According to the announcement of the Government Gazette dated 25 November 2019, the suspension for importation of live poultry and poultry carcasses from South Africa has expired on 23February 2020. However, the OIE has reported a continued outbreak of Avian Influenza (HPAI) in area in the South Africa. Therefore, it is necessary for Thailand to prevent the entry of Avian Influenza (HPAI) disease into the country. By the virtue of Animal Epidemics Act B.E. 2558 (2015), the importation of live poultry and poultry carcasses from South Africa is temporarily suspended for a period of 90 days after publication in the Thai Royal Gazette (2April 2020).
