Lymantria dispar is a quarantine pest not found in Argentina. The risk analysis identified maritime transport vessels as Lymantria dispar asiatica's and Lymantria dispar japonica's main possible pathway of introduction into Argentina.
The vessels must be covered by a certificate declaring them free from the Asian or Japanese gypsy moth. The certificate must be issued by the country's phytosanitary authority (or an institution under its control) and correspond to the vessel's last port of stay or departure located in an area where the pests are present.
