The DLD order on temporary suspension of importation of live poultry and poultry carcasses from South Africa to prevent the spread of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (Serotype H5N8).

According to the announcement of the Government Gazette dated 2 April 2020, the suspension for importation of live poultry and poultry carcasses from South Africa has expired on 1 July 2020. However, the OIE has reported a continued outbreak of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) in area of South Africa. Therefore, it is necessary for Thailand to prevent the entry of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) disease into the country. By the virtue of Animal Epidemics Act B.E. 2558 (2015), the importation of live poultry and poultry carcasses from South Africa is temporarily suspended for a period of 90 days after publication in the Thai Royal Gazette (24 July 2020).
