The purpose of the notified measure is to exempt certain species of live animals, especially those considered pets, from the requirement for post-entry quarantine in Chile. The following species are covered by this provision:  Pet dogs, cats and ferrets;  Amphibians destined for research or diagnostic laboratories and exhibition centres;  Pet reptiles;  Animals of the order Rodentia, destined for zoos, exhibitions or laboratories, or entering for commercial purposes or as pets;  Pet hedgehogs; and  Rabbits and hares entering as pets or destined for laboratories or use in scientific research.
